I was handed the task through Key House of Creation to lead product design for Aria—a hybrid mental health therapy and social platform that aims to promote a healthy lifestyle for its community members.

There was a lot to think about when it came to researching for Aria. Level of anonymity. The ability to be seen or not. The willingness to open up. I had to be mindful of every single interaction in order to create comfort. That's all it's about, is making people feel like they have a place they can feel completely at one with. 

After many conversations with the best of people—what I thought at first seemed like a simple social portal community turned in to a modern day form of tackling one of the world's touchiest subjects: mental health.

Aria is committed to making therapy sessions as accessible as possible both in terms of cost and availability to a large group of individuals. Therapy sessions can be purchased through a virtual loyalty program, based on the everyday expenses of users in the selected partners’ outlets or through in-app purchases.

The bulk of inspiration for brand style was drawn from emotional reaction—warmth and cold, plus the intersection of the two. The logo is based off of a certain representation of the concept of being "whole".

Elements in the user interface needed to be easy to digest and inviting to all. The general base for everything was white, representative of a clean slate. The language in the app followed a brand voice that was made to be confident and as straightforward as possible. The typeface, Sen, set out to do the same.
